Stop the presses… literally. The New York Times is reporting that Ziff Davis Media is going to be ending print publications of PC Magazine and is gearing up to take the title strictly online.
PC Magazine, which is in its 27th year, has been increasingly earning its revenue through it's online web site. As a result, it’s no surprise that Ziff Davis is looking to pull the plug. The final issue is scheduled to go out January 2009.
Below is a quote from the article:
“The viability for us to continue to publish in print just isn’t there anymore,” Jason Young, chief executive of Ziff Davis, said in an interview.
There’s also some speculation going around that Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) will be succumbing to a similar fate sometime next year. If this is correct, then it’s truly the end of an era.
