A quick recap for those that missed last Thursday evening. NYCGI held it's first official Meet n' Drink and it turned out to be a great time!

Regardless of the cold winds and a rather interesting excursion on the "G" train, I rolled up to Barcade around 6:45pm and the bar was already buzzing with the sounds of arcade machines and hearty conversation. It just so happened that it was also "Smuttynose Night", a regular beer theme night hosted by Barcade. Their beer board was chock-full of Smuttynose flavors but my favorite of the evening had to have been the "Terminator".

After settling in and catching up with a few other members of the site who had also arrived a little early, the rest of the crowd started to filter in. The combination of people who came out for the Meet n' Drink as well as Smuttynose Night mixed very nicely and in no time everyone was having fun.

The atmosphere of the Meet n' Drink was similar to many other local networking events. There were people talking games and development, handing out business cards, sharing tips and techniques, etc. In addition, a lot of art portfolios were shared and there were even a few laptops that lit up in the back of the bar with in-progress game demos and the like. The one thing that really stood out at Barcade was the plethora of classic arcade games immediately available for use. Just show up with a pocket full of quarters and prepare to have a blast!

As the night wound down, a few of us headed over to San Loco's for a quick late night bite. The fact that it's open until 4am made it the perfect after Meet n' Drink location.

Overall the event was a great time and thanks to everyone that was able to make it out. The turnout was great and we look forward to seeing everyone next month as well. Remember, we will be there the second Thursday of every month going forward!

Be sure to stay tuned to NYCGI for more event info.
