Games for Learning Institute Launches "Game-a-Week" Feature

In response to President Obama’s national initiative to focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), the Games for Learning Institute (G4LI), a joint research endeavor of Microsoft Research, New York University, and other universities, has launched a Game-of-the-Week feature on its web site.

Games for Learning Institute Announces Design Contest

The Games for Learning Institute, a joint research endeavor of Microsoft Research, New York University and other universities has announced a design contest—the Game Design Challenge—to build mini-games for learning on Microsoft’s XNA Game Studio 3.1 platform. The contest’s four winners will receive a total of $2,000 in cash prizes.

Indie Games Panel: NYU Game Center Podcast

The Indie Games panel was a discussion of the design, development and culture surrounding independent games with three innovative and provocative indie developers: Anna Anthropy, Mark 'messhof' Essen, and Jonatan 'Cactus' Soderstrom. It was put on by the NYU Game Center.

Super Mario Bros. Launch Party Draws Fans of All Ages

Gamers of all ages were invited to the Nintendo World Store on Saturday to celebrate the release of the New Super Mario Bros. Wii. There were many attractions created for the event, and even the rain could not keep people from stopping by to check out the party.
