Professor Mitchel Resnick is heading to the NYU Game Center on Friday from 3-5PM to give a talk entitled "Preparing for Life in the Creative Society." As the professor of learning research at the MIT Media Lab, Resnick has developed new technologies to engage adults and children in creative learning experiences.

His Lifelong Kindergarten research group has developed a variety of innovative educational technologies, including the Scratch programming language and the programmable bricks that are the basis for the LEGO Mindstorms robotics kits. Resnick also co-founded the Computer Clubhouse project, an international network of after-school learning centers where youth from low-income communities learn to express themselves creatively with new technologies.

Resnick earned a BS in physics from Princeton, and an MS and PhD in computer science from MIT. He worked for five years as a science and technology journalist for Business Week magazine, and he has consulted around the world on the uses of new technologies in education. "Preparing for Life in the Creative Society" is a collaborative effort between the NYU Game Center and the Games for Learning Institute.
