Got an Android phone? Then support a local Android developer by casting your vote for the Lucid team in the Android Developer Challenge 2.
Lucid was conceived by a group of New York University students as part of the first annual Global Game Jam, organized by the IGDA in February 2009. The first version was a java applet and was developed in under 2 days. In June 2009, 4 members of the team decided to port the concept of Lucid to a mobile device and debated back and forth between creating it for the ever-popular iPhone, or making it an Android game. Ultimately they settled on an Android version and have worked hard to get it ready for the Android Developer Challenge 2.
"The advances in mobile devices in the past few years have made for new platforms and opened up new audiences for games. Android, in particular, with its focus on open development, variety of carriers, and developer incentives like ADC2, is an exciting new opportunity space for indie games." said Matt Parker, member of the Lucid team.
Having beaten out a ton of the competition, the game’s been selected as a finalist in the contest and has been voted as one of the top 20 games in the “Casual/Puzzle” game category. The next round of voting is taking place right now and the final decision comes down to a combination of Google judges (60%) and Android users (40%).
This is where you come in Android owners. If you or anyone you know has an Android phone, be sure to download the Android Developer Challenge app and cast your vote for Lucid. It's a great opportunity to support local game development talent!
