Area/Code
Area/code takes advantage of today's environment of
pervasive technologies and overlapping media to create new
kinds of entertainment. Games and media define imaginary
spaces that we enter into and explore. Area/code highlights
the connections between these imaginary spaces and the world
around them.
Gamelab
Gamelab was a game development company based in New York City, founded by Peter Lee and Eric Zimmerman in 2000. Their staff of designers, programmers, and producers created smart, innovative, high-quality games that appealed to a broad audience.
Gotham Wave Games
Gotham Wave Games was game technology company founded by Kristofer Schlachter. They specialized in games and game engines based on advanced fluid simulation technology. Their proprietary technologies included 2D/3D fluid and particle engines which ran in Flash, on the iPhone, and on desktops and consoles.
Kaos Studios
Kaos Studios, a division of THQ, Inc. located in New York
City, was formed in 2005 by industry veterans of the FPS
genre. The core members of the group came from Trauma
Studios, creators of Desert Combat (one of the most
successful mods of all time from the original Battlefield)
and the R&D team for DICE's Battlefield 2. The 75-person
team includes additional members from the development teams
of other acclaimed shooters, including FEAR, Medal of Honor
and Doom 3.
Manifesto Games
Manifesto Games, Inc., was an ecommerce retailer of
downloadable computer games for PCs, Macintosh computers,
and Linux machines, specializing in independently developed
games aimed at core gamers. It was founded in October 2005
by industry veterans Greg Costikyan and Dr. Johnny L.
Wilson, and was headquartered in New York City.
