Brooklyn's Brick Theater is pleased to announce its second annual GAME PLAY festival, a month-long event devoted to gaming-based works!
Last year's festival was a big hit and this year they've decided to add and expand upon the following events:
* THEATER OF THE ARCADE -- Five familiar favorites from the golden age of arcade gaming are brought to the stage in the style of David Mamet, Tennessee Williams, and others.
* GRAND THEFT OVID -- The work of the classical poet Ovid, reimagined in such gaming environments as World of Warcraft, Halo 3, and Grand Theft Auto 4.
* MODAL KOMBAT (www.modalkombat.com) -- A modern-day Dueling Banjos, with two performers controlling the characters in console video games with specially designed guitars.
* KEWL-AID MAN IN SECOND LIFE (www.koolaidmaninsecondlife.com) -- Join the old-school advertising icon on a tour of Second Life. The audience decides what user-generated realms the tour visits—furry sex clubs, a psychedelic jungle world, or a Blade Runner–esque megacity.
* A SHORT LECTURE OF A DIFFERENT TIME (www.8bithistorian.com) -- A combination of Nintendo graphics, Game Boy music, and theoretical physics, telling the story of the OLDVERSE: the universe before this one, long dead and gone.
In addition, the festival has created a special discount promotion for New York area IGDA members for the mainstage productions. To use this discount just visit:
