Soo..How's that economy working for you?
Hey all, just wanted to touch base and wonder how everyone's doing with this "lovely" economy. Some news reports say the economy is slowly recovering. For people without a job, are you finding any responses out there? And people with a job, do you see any more layoffs around you?
Personally, I'm trying to remain hopeful that some companies will resume hiring again but after searching for job postings in new york, it's hard to find one that's relevant (concept artist). It seems that kind of title doesn't exist in this big city.
What 'bout you guys?

Not good for me. I'm trapped in a very bad web design job (plan B), my boss is shady, I'm underpaid, and I'd love to jump ship but with the economy the way it is people aren't exactly lining up around the block to hire little old me :)
Everyone's hoping for a turnaround, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I know the feeling about working in a shading job. I do security myself and it blows, im hoping something pops up soon that offers a decent paycheck

I've been looking for a job since I graduated in Sept of '08 with a Computer Engineering degree. It's still pretty tough out there. I've found a couple temporary odd jobs out there in order to barely keep me afloat but those were only temporary and have long since ended. I've only been on about 3 interviews since I graduated and they found someone with more experience. Even a lot of internship positions (non-paid) haven't replied. Right now I'm hoping for a QA position in the games industry since it's what I'd like to start with but that's hard to come by here on the east coast.
Still...it's the new year and I'm keeping my hopes up. :)

I'm not doing bad, although I could always be doing better! My stuff is selling more than it ever has off of my website, but it's selling significantly worse off the distribution portals like Big Fish. So it evens out. I'm not in danger of going out of business and we've never been more productive, but it's hard to say how well we are doing until we actually finish more games and sell them!
