Hi ! Don't know it someone will read this, but I try my luck :)

In a few words...I'm a 30yo girl,I've been working in the video game industry in France for almost 6 years.

Now, my husband and I are considering an expatriation in NYC for his job in 2011 and so I'm looking for opportunities, with my profile, not knowing the studios&publishers in NY...

I've been working for developers at the beginning of my career as a general project manager, then I joined the Ubisoft team on an event coordination role.

More recently I've worked for a digital media agency.
Since April of this year, I'm a consultant for various companies of my network such as a developer or an event & communication agency.
Last month, I've opened my portfolio to a small cards and board games publisher adapting their products on video games.

I would be very thankful for any advice or help you could give me.

Hi Anne-Sophie! Welcome to the site. :-)

There are actually a couple of studios in NYC that are headquartered in France, or have ties there.

The ones that immediately come to mind are Gameloft and Longtail studios . Both have development houses in NYC and both were founded by members of the Guillemot family, who were also responsible for founding Ubisoft. Boonty is another one, but I'm not sure if they are still around or not.

You might be able to make some connections with those companies while still living over there. That would certainly make your transition to NYC easier.

That said, there are also a ton of other studios in the city that might be looking for someone with your skills and experience.

Good ideas about Gameloft and Longtail, I will do that.
But,I will also drop a line and a resume to registered companies here, as you suggested.

I would be very curious,interested and proud to join a real american studio, it would be a good opportunity for me to really discover things and learn. Ubisoft is cool but that's french and when you're about to move to a country, you've got to understand culture, people...When you join a new team, you've got to play with new players :-)

New York is a really great place to work in games because there are a lot of different types of studios here. Each one is working on something unique and interesting so you have a lot of options.

C'est pas encore fait, mais j'y pense serieusement, ma femme est américaine, alors c'est l'occasion d'aller bosser dans un studio américain.

Mais NY n'a pas l'air d'être la meilleure ville pour le jeu vidéo...
