Classic Degree Vs Game Degree
I've heard different opinions regarding this question. I know some employers would like to see a more classical degree like Computer Science or Software Engineering. However, there are others who would prefer something with Graphic or Game Design because there's more exposure to game design elements through that type of degree. Those same elements not typically introduced or offered for classic degrees.
What do you think?
Re: Classic Degree Vs Game Degree
The benefit of a game degree is that it raises you in an environment suitable for diving straight into the industry, but that's about it. A classic degree will be just as much work, but you'll need to do about half of the education on your own time since it won't cover game industry specifics. However, should you decide in a few years the games biz just isn't for you, then you have a safety net in that a classic degree will hold open more doors to other fields

Although my experience is limited, from what I have been through so far, DeVry is offering the best of both worlds. I am on track with industry practices as well as gen.ed courses as well. Overall I think that it is well rounded here at DeVry.
