Registration has opened for the second session in Arkadium's game design workshop series. Titled, "Casual Game Design", the session plans to cover topics such as casual games, games & meaning, form & content, and designing interaction.
At the heart of every successful game is strong game design – the systems and interactivity that create meaningful experiences for players. Systems of Play is a workshop series sponsored by Arkadium that combines informative lectures with hands-on design exercises to explore the unique challenges of game design.
Intended for working game developers, media professionals, design academics, and students, the workshop will cover the theory and practice of game design. The focus will be on concepts and methods for digital platforms that are most relevant to the NYC game design community, such as casual games, multiplayer online games, and games for social networks.
Systems of Play will be led by Naomi Clark and Eric Zimmerman, two game industry veterans.
