In the ninth episode of locally produced game development podcast "Another Castle", Co-founder of Large Animal Games, Wade Tinney sits down to talk about his career in games and the New York scene.
Another Castle is a show brought to us by the NYU guys over at Game Design Advance and focuses on long-form interviews with creators and thinkers in and around the New York game development scene. It is hosted by Charles J Pratt and produced and edited by Noah Sasso, with music by Chris Graves and art by Rachel Morris.

It was interesting listening to this podcast and getting a general idea of what the game industry is in NYC. When you first look at it, it almost seems like a David Vs. Goliath between the tiny shops of NYC Vs. the big shops of the west. After listening to Wade, I get a better understanding that it's not a battle really, it's more of a new wave of game development consisting of small groups of developers focusing on the the new genre of gaming (Social Gaming).
As someone looking to get into this industry as a programmer, I have always had this mindset of programming a game that was made by a 100 person team. What I should really focus on is the gameplay and the "fun" factor, that is what these social games prove, if its fun, its a great game. (Woops, kinda sidetracked from the Podcast)
Anyways, it was definitely a quality listen, plus it eased the tensions of work :)
P.S. You made a note on the search for technical skill, programmer building up his skills right over here!
